Welcome to Tastes Just Like A Memory. I am so grateful you are here! I am venturing out on this food blogging journey because, well…
Long story short – I LOVE to eat. When I was young, I once asked my dad, “Dad, do you know what my three favorite things are?” God knows what I would have said at 11 years old – probably basketball (playing and watching the Tar Heels), music, and hanging out with friends. He didn’t miss a beat. “breakfast, lunch and dinner.” That is absolutely more accurate.
I have ALWAYS loved to cook. I can remember when I was little, using hair-bands to secure paper towels around my arms and hopping up on a stool to fry bacon. How else are you going to keep grease from popping up and burning your tiny little arms? The memory makes me laugh out loud. Where were my parents?
Fast forward to who I am today. I am a lover of anything outside. I like to be spontaneous. A weekend spent in the woods is where I feel most like myself. I love the freedom of spirit I feel alone in nature. Backpacking will probably always be my favorite thing to do. I still love Carolina basketball. I love to explore new places, sing, dance, be with the people I love – most importantly my husband, our two-year-old son, and our dog Aspen. Of course eating is way up on the list. I take entirely too many photos. I’ll never turn down a chance to see live music. I get VERY excited about things. Think Kristen Wiig “surprise party” (If you haven’t seen that SNL skit, please look it up).
My goal for this blog is to spend more time doing the thing that I love, and to share that experience. Cooking just makes me happy. Feeding a great meal to someone I love is an amazing feeling. I want to share recipes with you that I would make at home for my friends and family. I want to hear from you. I want to hear about your cooking and your experiences. I want to continue to learn and to grow and to connect.
I don’t know where this is going, but let’s make some tasty meals and have some times worth remembering!
